"United Europe for a united world"

Lingua: Italiano
Abstract: During the closing session of the seminar organized by the Spanish section of the European Movement (December 3, 2002), Chiara Lubich presented the vision of Europe going towards projects of community and unity. Universal Fraternity is shown as the common challenge for Europe, as well as for the whole world. Chiara Lubich reads the whole European history as a process fed by a tendency towards fraternity and unity: “In the vision of it’s founders, Europe is a family of brother-peoples, not closed within itself, but rather open to a universal mission: Europe wants it’s own unity in order to contribute to the unity of the human family”. The main actors are those who drive the social, political and religious realities of the European society. This requires dialogue with everyone. Politics must rediscover it’s vocation: to make the existence and the flourishing of all other civil, social and religious vocations possible. In this view, the perspective of unity is presented as the condition to compose into harmony all differences (ethnic group, affiliation, etc.), preparing for a future of peace.
